An honest comparison
NEWWORK Projects vs GitHub Projects
GitHub Projects lives right next to the code, and you can assign an issue to Copilot and get a pull request back. NEWWORK Projects works with GitHub and adds what sits above the repository: briefs, readiness, proven checks, time, capacity and budgets.

Where GitHub Projects is genuinely good
- ✓Issues and projects right next to the code and pull requests.
- ✓Assign an issue to the Copilot cloud agent and it opens a pull request (paid Copilot plans).
- ✓Free for public repositories, familiar to every developer.
Choose GitHub Projects if
Your team is small, technical and lives in GitHub, and you do not need time, capacity or client work.
Choose NEWWORK Projects if
You run several projects or clients, use more than one coding agent, or need product managers, budgets and capacity next to the code.
Side by side, for agentic work
| NEWWORK Projects | GitHub Projects | |
|---|---|---|
| What an agent gets from a ticket | A brief: intent, context, behaviour, constraints and acceptance checks. A readiness score says whether it is ready for an agent, and open questions keep it from being handed over. | The issue title, description and comments at the time of assignment. |
| Agents | Any MCP agent: Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, VS Code and others, side by side. | Copilot cloud agent and third-party coding agents on paid Copilot plans. |
| Proof of done | Acceptance checks ticked with evidence (pull request, commit, test run). Done tickets show Verified, or what is missing. | Merged pull requests close linked issues; task lists in the issue. |
| Agent work in time tracking | Live timers for people and agents. Agent timers are marked “via AI agent” and booked like anyone’s. | No built-in time tracking. |
| Client work | Change requests with prices and approval, project budgets in hours or money, cost centers, capacity planning. | Not a focus. |
Where we fall short today
- –No marketplace of extensions: GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket for code, Jira, Linear, GitHub Issues, Asana, ClickUp and CSV for import, Slack, Teams, webhooks and a REST API, MCP for agents.
- –Nova and Brainstorm read code from Bitbucket; GitHub and GitLab repositories are for coding agents only.
- –Single sign-on is Google or Microsoft; SCIM is part of Enterprise, and SAML comes with Enterprise agreements.
- –No native mobile apps; the web app installs on phones and computers, with notifications.
- –Agents connect with personal tokens; OAuth sign-in for MCP clients is planned.
