Leave Jira, keep your history

Switch from Jira without starting from zero.

The direct import reads your Jira projects and brings the tickets with their comments, change history, logged work and attachments. Nothing is written to Jira, and you can run it again until the day you switch.

What comes with it

✓Tickets

Creation, update and resolution dates, reporter, assignee, parent (epics, stories, subtasks), priority, labels, story points, original estimate, start and due date. Jira’s rich text becomes Markdown.

✓Comments

With their author and date.

✓Change history

Who changed what and when. Status changes become normal status history, so flow and cycle-time charts include your Jira past.

✓Logged work

Time entries for matched people, with the Jira date. Off by default, admins only.

✓Attachments

Files up to 25 MB, copied with their original uploader and date.

✓A way back

Every ticket shows “Imported from Jira as KEY-123” with a link to the original.

Four steps

  1. 1

    Connect Jira

In Workspace settings → Integrations: your Jira address, the email of an account that can browse the projects, and an API token of that account. Test connection reads the account.

  2. 2

    Pick what to bring

A Jira project or any JQL search, and which of comments, history, logged work and attachments to include.

  3. 3

    Check the preview

Counts, how Jira people were matched to your members (by email, then by a unique name), and how statuses map. Change any of it before importing.

  4. 4

    Import, and again later

It runs in chunks of up to 2,000 tickets. Running it again only adds what is new, so teams import early and once more on switch day.

What stays behind

  • –Workflows, screens and permission schemes: NEWWORK Projects has one workflow (backlog, to do, in progress, in review, done, cancelled).
  • –Custom fields other than the ones listed, and rank changes.
  • –Issue links between tickets.
  • –Ticket numbers: tickets get new keys; the Jira key stays on the ticket.

Then make the tickets agent-ready

Imported stories score like any other ticket. Open one, choose Write with Nova, and the old acceptance criteria turn into checks, with questions for whatever the story never said.

Questions

Does the import change anything in Jira?

No. It only reads. The token stays on our server and is removed from the activity log.

What does the Free plan import?

The tickets themselves, from a direct import or from a Jira CSV export. Comments, change history and logged work come with the direct import on Pro and Business.

Will people get a flood of notifications?

No. Imports notify nobody and do not make the person importing watch other people’s tickets.

What happens to people who are not members yet?

Their name stays on their comments and history, and their tickets stay unassigned until you assign them. Invite them first and run the import again to match them.

Can we try it before we commit?

Yes. Import a project into a free workspace, look around, and run it again when you are ready. Business has a 14-day trial if you want to see capacity and budgets too.

Bring your Jira history. Leave the guessing.

Free for up to 10 people, with MCP for every agent. No credit card.
