Done is a claim. Verified is proof.

Moving a card is easy for anyone, including an agent. What a done ticket should carry instead.

15 October 2026 · The NEWWORK Projects team

In most tools, Done means someone moved the card. Whether the acceptance criteria were met lives in a reviewer’s memory, if it lives anywhere. With people that was mostly fine: the person who moved the card was usually the person who knew.

With agents, moving the card is the cheapest step of all. An agent will mark a ticket done as confidently as it wrote the code. If done is a status anyone can set, a board full of done tickets says very little.

Checks with evidence

In NEWWORK Projects, acceptance checks are their own list on the ticket, one observable statement each. Passing one takes evidence:

  • the pull request, or the commit;
  • the test run, or the test and its result, such as npm test: 48 passed;
  • a link to the page, recording or document that shows it.

Agents must attach evidence to pass a check. A person can tick without evidence, and it is recorded as Confirmed, with their name. A failed check says what failed.

Verified, or what is missing

A done ticket is Verified when every check passed with evidence and no linked pull request is still open. Otherwise it says Not verified, and the tooltip lists exactly what is missing: pass the last check with evidence, merge or close the open pull request.

That turns review from “does this look done?” into “here is what is left”, and it makes the board mean something again. A Verified mark on a card is not somebody’s opinion. It is a set of links you can click.

The pull requests move the tickets

Connect GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket and put the ticket key in the branch, title or description. Opening a pull request moves its tickets to review; merging the last one moves them to done. The status follows the code, and Verified follows the evidence.
